Overstayers in the United Arab Emirates have been provided a lifeline with the UAE Amnesty Program being offered by the authority. The aim is to ensure that individuals who have been living illegally in the United Arab Emirates can legalize themselves by waiving their fines off and leaving the country or issue themselves with a new residency visa or renew their existing visa which they were unable to renew due to their respective concerns.

The UAE Amnesty is a program that was initiated back in 2007 by the United Arab Emirates Government to bring human rights and assist those who felt the need to exit the country with an out pass or renew their existing visa or acquire a new visa and provide them a new lifeline to move on to a fresh path in life.

The year of 2024 marks the return of the amnesty in the month of September which will be ongoing until the 30th of October to ensure human rights and the aim to reduce the number of residents with illegal documentation.

The United Arab Emirates Amnesty Program is eligible for residency visa violators, tourist visa violators and those individuals with a lost passport to be able to secure an out pass to exit the country.

Residents can pay a visit to the relevant centers to fulfill the service and obtain a grace period of 14 days to change their status to renewed visa or exit the country with their fines waived off.
